We had 120 guests and a Wild-West/Chinese/bordello theme. They are flexible: they let our theatre lighting friends set up lighting. The chef was excited to try new things, so don't be afraid to ask! I asked for Chinese food...and I got very good Chinese food (yes, I am Taiwanese). The cake was gorgeous, looked BETTER than the photo I gave them, and was very tasty. They will do whatever you ask within reason. I had the pre-transition pricing (lucky me!) for post-transition service, so I don't know what the costs are now, but I found the peace of mind of having everything done (and done well!) for me well worth the cost. The on-site coordinator is included. I don't know how Kathryn pulls off three back-to-back weekend weddings in a row; she is a goddess, and you are a goddess from 10am until 10am the next day (I had a 24-hour package)! All my guests adored the site, and the reception was a blast in this comfortable lodge with amazing game room (we drank and played blackjack, pool, and Rock Band until 3am) and 27 included guestrooms. Staff is friendly and responsive. Wedding site overlook was beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Full bar was excellent. Bartender was awesome guy. Late-night snacks and early-morning breakfast was greatly appreciated. Ample parking (what can I say, I'm from LA) warmed my soul. Cool small historic Western town! A few caveats: their new website is hard to navigate and doesn't have a lot of information right off hand. Don't let that put you off. This is a great site to have a wedding. The nearest hotel for the rest of your guests is Auburn, 17 miles away. The road is quite easy (not windy at all), but take that into consideration. That said, we had a few inebriated friends crash out on the extra sofas and rollout beds with no problems. We had a great wedding. Having a whole awesome place to yourself for 24 hours: priceless. Thanks, Forest House Lodge.

This place was perfect! The service was exceptional. Everyone that works here is willing to go above and beyond to make sure that you & your guests are happy. All through the planning stages, I received great service as well. They were quick to respond to questions and were willing to cater the day just to your needs. The food was great, the lodge was beautiful and well maintained, and the views at the overlook are outstanding. I would highly recommend this place!
I could not imagine getting married anywhere else. This place had everything you could ever ask for. Snow covered mountains were the backdrop of our ceremony/ Friends and family ate great food all day, danced the night away, drank themselves silly, and played games like pool, ping pong, and rock band until the sun came up. The staff was amazing and exemplified customer service at its best. I (the bride aka a control freak) did absolutely nothing the day of the wedding, and the day was as flawless as can be. I wish I could relieve my wedding day over and over again. 08/27/2010
Our wedding turned out perfectly and we really have Brett, Catherine, and all of the staff at the Forest House to thank for it. The Forest House was unlike any other wedding venue that we looked at (and we looked at a lot of them.) It used to be a Lodge, but now they are solely a wedding site. The best thing about it is that it is a 3 story building and the top floor is filled with rooms that your guest can stay in. We had 105 people at our wedding and about 75 of them were able to stay the night there, so there was no rushed feeling at out wedding. We really had time to relax and enjoy being around all of our friends and family on our special day.
